Always:
- Ask for help if you need it. The worst answer you can get is "Sorry, I can't help you with that."
- Give help if asked. If you are unable to provide assistance, say so politely.
- Interact politely with other LotRO members. You are representing our Kinship, and what you do will define our reputation.
Try to:
- Save any crafting materials, uncommon recipes, and crafting bonus materials you run across. ...and Reputation items.
- Avoid the Auction House as much as possible. If you want to get rid of it, chances are a Kinsman may need it. If you need it, chances are a Kinsman may have it. IT is any crafting material/component/recipe you don't need, for whatever reason you don't need it.
- Provide materials if you want a Kinsman to craft something for you.
- Bring ALL of your characters into the Kinship. If you have previous commitments, we can understand if you want to remain separate. As we're making an honest attempt to be a "true" Kinship, it's only fitting that all of "you" come over.
- Read the Lord of the Rings novels.
- Keep an eye out for new members.
- Paste this website's homepage into your Bio, so that you can direct interested people here.
Never:
- Ask a Kinsman for materials if you intend to sell or auction the item you are making.
- Behave in a rude, mean, greedy, or otherwise inconsiderate manner.
- Be Anonymous in-game. (Unless someone's stalking you, and you've informed us)
- Have any interactions with an anonymous character. We need to protect ourselves from the powerlevelers and goldspammers who frequently use /anon to hide.
- Send any region-wide text twice (or more) in a five-minute block of time, in any channel, even if it's two or more different channels. It is spamming, and it violates the ToS (Terms of Service).
What Crafting Profession do you need or recommend?
Well, you're the one playing the game, so it's honestly your choice. There are recommendations we can make, but remember that it's your character, so play what you want to play. Enjoy the game!
If you're really intent on getting some advice, let's look at Professions available in the game:
If you want to "make the most" with your time and money, you need to use the four "Core" Professions. Metalsmith only exists in Armourer. Scholar only exists in Historian. Jeweller only exists in Tinker. After you take into consideration the other crafts these professions offer, you only have to cover Forester and Woodworking, both covered by Woodsman. Conveniently, these Professions can be shortened into W.H.A.T. (but keep in mind that Armsman is also an "A"). If you have five or more characters, then Explorer is recommended, as it can gather every resource. That's the "basic law" we go by. It can be more complex than that, especially with the Crafting Guilds.
